About Me

On a photo session in Palanga.

I arrived in Vilnius, Lithuania on a one way ticket in December 2003.

After graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder in May of that year with a BA in Central and Eastern European Studies, I spent the summer in New York as an editorial assistant at ReflexNews.  From there, I went to Powder Magazine in southern California where I spent three months as the photo intern.

Upon arrival in Lithuania, I was hired as Photo Editor for the soon-to-be-launched FHM Lithuania as well as Cosmopolitan and Ieva magazines. I later helped to launch Lilit, which I left after one year to launch JOY.  For both FHM and JOY I worked as staff photographer as well as editor, preparing product pack shots, illustrative features and portraits.

In 2006, I began writing the column “Letter from Lithuania” for Lithuanian Heritage magazine, published 6 times per year in Chicago. I’ve also written for Condé Nast Traveler.

In my spare time, I’m a founder and head coach of Kalnu Ereliai Ski Team. I have a super bunch of kids, and our frequent training and racing trips assure that I’m traveling non-stop!

In June 2009, I left Lithuania to be a ski coach on Mt. Ruapehu in New Zealand. Financial circumstances have now took me back to Aspen, Colorado where I worked as a ski instructor, race coach, and assistant art director at Aspen Magazine. I am now in San Francisco working toward a Master of Fine Arts degree (MFA) in Creative Writing at California College of the Arts. In my spare time, I do as much sailing as I can.

Though I’m far away, my life in Vilnius is always on my mind. I’ll continue to update this website about living in Lithuania, with hopes to return one day soon.
